The Sydney Business Chamber says the recognition of Sydney as one of the best places to visit in the world according to global travel magazine National Geographic Traveler
, is a testament to the bustling and vibrant capital city of NSW.
“Sydney has always had a strong visitor economy and now being identified as an unmissable global destination to visit in 2018 reiterates the city’s everlasting appeal and charm,” said Patricia Forsythe, Executive Director of the Sydney Business Chamber.
“Sydney’s inclusion in this distinguished list will no doubt spark the curious traveller’s interest in our city but already the numbers speak for themselves, with the Sydney region attracting 32.9 million international and domestic overnight and day trip visitors in the past financial year.
“With the sparkling harbour, iconic Sydney Opera House, the towering Sydney Harbour Bridge and stunning coastline, the city has no shortage of visitor attractions.
“Major events and attractions such as the world’s largest festival of light, music and ideas, Vivid Sydney to Sculptures by the Sea, there is no doubt the city makes for an exciting and diverse travel experience,” Mrs Forsythe said.
“Sydney is the gateway to Australia and it is important to continue the city’s success in alluring visitors from across the country and the world.
“It is important to note that Sydney is the only Australian city featured in this list and its acknowledgement comes despite the naysayers’ criticism of the city’s late night economy and current impact of public and private sector construction,” she said.
