Boxing Day Trade a Win for Western Sydney

The Sydney Business Chamber, Western Sydney has supported the NSW Government’s move that it will legislate to allow Boxing Day trade to continue in Western Sydney and across the state.

David Borger, Director of the Sydney Business Chamber, Western Sydney, said, “This is welcome news and now Western Sydney shoppers will finally get the opportunity to enjoy the sales on Boxing Day permanently, just like everyone else in the Sydney CBD.

“Western Sydney businesses will be able to take advantage of this key trading day and provide a much-needed economic boost to the region.

“People love to shop so if they want to take part in the Boxing Day sales then they should be allowed to.

“The region had already seen a successful Boxing Day trade when it was trialled in 2015 and 2016 and it is pleasing to see this will now become something the community can take part in every year rather than travelling to the city,” Mr Borger said.

“The Sydney Business Chamber has championed this cause for some time and it makes sense to line up trading so that the same rules apply whether your business is in Bondi or Blacktown.

“This will provide jobs and business opportunities in Western Sydney – an area which is fast transforming into a bustling shopping and restaurant precinct.

“This is a win for business and the community,” he said.
